Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is an ambitious institution, and ranks in the world’s top 200 universities.
QUT aims to be 'the university for the real world' and deliver transformative education and research that is relevant to its communities.
With more than 50,000 students across two inner-city campuses in Brisbane, QUT offers academic programs in fields spanning business, creative industries, education, engineering, health, law, science, and social justice.
Why Studiosity?
QUT recognises that its students have increasing demands on their time. Work or caring responsibilities; Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements; and competing personal and study demands all impact students' ability to access available support services on campus or during business hours.
In 2019, QUT conducted an 18 month pilot of Studiosity to determine its viability as a self-access support for students.
"At QUT we pride ourselves in our high expectations for partnerships - we invest time and academic expertise to ensure they're the right fit. With Studiosity, that investment has seen a very positive return - high student and staff satisfaction, academic outcomes, and a partner that truly listens."
- Professor Robina Xavier, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President Academic
Bringing staff on board for a successful program
The program was launched in Semester 2, 2019 with clear communication to students and a staff webinar with Professor Sally Kift, President of the Australian Learning and Teaching Fellows Network, Adjunct Professor at QUT and Studiosity Academic Advisory Board member. The webinar included opportunities to hear how Studiosity integrates into QUT's existing ecology of support, and a Q&A session so that all members of staff in attendance left feeling confident and comfortable with the integration of the service.
Since 2021 Studiosity has been available to all undergraduate and postgraduate students and ongoing evaluation has found:
Faster, more equitable feedback for all with Studiosity+ in 2024
In March 2024, QUT implemented a trial of Studiosity+, the AI-powered feedback service to all postgrad students. Because it provides formative feedback on student work, the Plus service complies with QUT's policy around use of Gen AI as a study aid. Studiosity staff monitor the tool's output and quality assurance is conducted in partnership with QUT.
So far, over 1,500 postgrad students have received AI-powered feedback, with an average of 6 interactions per student. The average wait time has been 2 minutes and 23 seconds, and satisfaction with the Plus service remains high.
After using Studiosity+, QUT students say
The service allows students to provide feedback each time they use the service. Here is a selection of comments provided by QUT students:
“The feedback was great and made me feel a lot more confident before handing in my assignment."
"The feed back was very detailed, and helpful. Thank you so much. was not expecting to get such helpful analysis. I will definitively use this service more often. thank you."
"Big confidence boost. Thank you!"
"Getting feedback quickly is super helpful, so the AI version of feedback is terrific for this. I also find the feedback really on point and well-considered, allowing me to look at my work with fresh eyes. Thank you!"
