- 70% of UAE students expect AI support tools from their university - the highest expectation in the world
- 94% of UAE students are using AI tools for study in some capacity
- Two-thirds of students experienced AI-related stress
In the latest wave of research from our Middle East Student Wellbeing Report, carried out by YouGov, 70% of UAE students expect their university to provide AI support tools (n=554). This reflects the highest level of expectation for AI-based support compared to other markets surveyed, from a sample of over 10,000 students across the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
The report also states that 94% of students in the UAE are using AI tools for study, at least sometimes, yet two-thirds of the respondents experienced at least a little stress when using AI tools for study, citing reasons like “the AI might be wrong," “fear of being accused of plagiarism or breaking the university rules”, and “potential data leaks.”.
Quickly acting to meet students’ expectations in the AI age, Ajman University introduced its own ‘Studiosity’ service in 2024, providing ethical and university-approved AI-based feedback on students' assessments in minutes, delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to their students.
Ajman’s Student Success Centre partnered with Studiosity to protect student learning with ethical AI instead of ‘answers-based’ AI while also using the service to drive engagement with the university’s other student services.
In a recent webinar, English Language Lecturer Hanaa Mansour discussed the various ways the partnership has benefitted her teaching and her students.
"By investing in Studiosity, the university is not just offering a writing assistance tool, but also empowering students to become independent learners, critical thinkers, and effective communicators."
The students who shared their experiences during the webinar, Hana Mohamed and Doaa Al Alimi both spoke with authentic enthusiasm about the speed and personalisation of the feedback, as well as how they felt it was making them think and learn - and not doing the work for them.
In 2025, it is clear that students expect AI support, and forward-thinking institutions like Ajman University are providing it in ways that foster critical thinking and deep learning.
